SLT’s provide life improving treatment, support and care for children and adults.
SLP’s assess and treat speech, language and communication problems in people of all ages to help them communicate better.
SLP’s also work with other professionals to develop individual treatment programmes.
Speech disorders refer to a problem with the actual pronunciation of sounds.
Speech Disorders Include.
Difficulties producing sounds in syllables or saying words incorrectly to an extent that listeners cannot understand what is being said.
Flow of speech is interrupted by abnormal stoppages, repetitions or prolonging sounds and syllables.

Problems with the pitch, loudness or quality of voice that distract the listener from what is being said.
A language disorder refers to a problem in understanding or putting words together to communicate ideas.
Language disorders can either be receptive or expressive.
Receptive : Difficulty in understanding or processing language.
Expressive : Difficulty in putting words together, unable to use language appropriately.
